Mens University
Does SMU(Southern Methodist University) have a mens cross country team???
No,several years ago, claiming high costs SMU did away with mens track and field and cross country. This is not the first time they have canceled mens programs,and increased womens programs. They have 34 scholarships for womans crew, that is rowing a boat, they also have a horse riding team for women.
This is because of Title 9. They spend so much money on football they have to have all these non sport, womens sports to give the women scholarships.
They did away with baseball.
They did away with gold, which was not being paid by the school, Hank Haney shamed them into restarting mens golf by going to the news where he paid all of the team's expenses and scholarships.
So the bottom line is there are no mens running programs at SMU, where they have won several national mens championships and had numerous national champions because of Title 9.
There is a rumor it might start a mens program back but we will have to wait and see.
